Description
Farnborough, All Saints Bishops’ Transcripts 1607-1738 (not all years), baptisms 1739-2004, marriages 1739-2006, banns 1822-2002, burials 1739-2002. The cover is a line drawing of Farnborough All Saints church.
Farnborough parish is just to the South-East of Wantage – it is not the one in North-East Hampshire.
The history notes on this record that Farnborough’s most well-known resident was the poet John Betjeman, who between 1945 and 1951 lived in the Old Rectory, which he described as being of “great architectural distinction”. Some colour photographs include one of a stained-glass window in the parish church dedicated to Betjeman and designed by John Piper. The transcript, which is easily searchable in Adobe Acrobat Reader includes indexes to: baptisms; banns and marriages indexed by bride and groom; and burials.
